Intensive
Family Preservation Services (IFPS):
The
goal of the program is to work with families whose children, under age 18, are at imminent risk of removal to prevent the unnecessary placement of the
children into out of home care. IFPS works with the families in their homes to
set goals and achieve results that provide for safety, permanence and wellbeing
of the children and family. IFPS Specialists works with two (2) families at a
time from four (4) to six (6) weeks giving each family an average of six (6)
to ten (10) per week of services. The IFPS Specialist are available to the
families twenty-four (24) hours per day seven (7) days per week and able to
work a flexible schedule. Services provided to the families include, but are
not limited to; modeling desired behavior; parenting education and skills;
child development training; advocacy with courts, schools and other service
agencies; communication skills building; home maintenance skills; linkage with
other community resources, facilities and transportation.
Referral
Process:
Only
DCBS/P&P and RIAC may refer families to this program. All referrals must be
approved by the Referral and Selection person in the DCBS District office in
your area. The original referral must be given to the IFPS worker at the time
the case is opened.
*TANF
cases must meet TANF eligibility criteria.
